Short Mountain Bike Trips

These outings are conducted with only one or two clients at a time. Clients need to provide their own bikes and helmets.  A back-up vehicle is provided and the Guide rides with you all the way.  Meals, transport and accommodation are included in the price. Prices start at R1155 p/day.  (105 GBP, $180)

Ride Sani Pass. (1 day)

This ride starts at the South African border post at the bottom of the pass.  A 9 km ride up the jeep track to the Sani Top Chalet, where refreshments are provided.  The climb to the top is hard going as the start is at 1600m ASL and the top is 2850m ASL.   The up ride takes about 3 hours and the down run about 20 minutes!

Ride to the highest point in southern Africa, at 3451m. (2 days)

The small mountain of Thabana Ntlenyana (3451m) is the highest point south of Kilimanjaro. It is located 9 km inside Lesotho and can be ridden up on mountain bikes on a very rough path. On the first day we ride up Sani Pass and stay at Sani Top Chalet and the highest Pub in Africa (2850m).

Day 2 starts early and you ride the 14 km single track to the top and return the same way, then speed down the pass.

Midlands Tour. (2 days)

This 2 day trip starts in the town of Himeville at the foot of the Drakensberg and is all on rough dirt roads.   The first day we ride north along following the mountains for 40km. There are a few large hills on this day.  The over night stop is at Loteni ranger station in the heart of the Drakensberg World Heritage Site. Accommodation is in Chalets.  Day two is up and over a long winding pass and then onto Kamberg Nature Reserve (50km) where we over night in chalets and then view the famous rock art site at Shelter Cave before returning to Durban.
